Starting tomorrow 1 May, Jeff will be picking up blogging duties for a week or so while I’m off to Texas to look @ Gulf Coast towne houses and other places to go in the winter when it’s cold in Indiana. I’m certain he will fill you with a unique Purdue student perspective.

Last week I picked up a 26″ Polaroid LCD HDTV/Monitor combination from one of my wholesalers for $299 plus shipping. About 18 months ago, I paid over $800 for a 23″ Westinghouse that doesn’t even come close to the Polaroid in capability. The Polaroid is a full 1080i, and everything in between. I hooked it up to a decent computer running Vista Ultimate with a nice GeForce 5500 display card that is fully Ultimate capable. The computer is a 3.06 MHZ HT running 2 gigs of memory. With this setup, I can run 1600 by 1200 on the Polaroid no problem. You should see the real estate! You can line Widgets up the right side of the screen, and still have lots of room for everything else! This makes editing videos, blogs, and especially the ENTR200 Wiki (www.thinkbeta.com) so much easier!  Hank

If you don’t mind me asking, since I have some experience with wholesalers in the past, what wholesaler/wholesalers do you use? I found a few reputable ones, but i ended up getting scammed in the end by a middle man.

I have tried sites such as http://www.worldwidebrands.com, a site that works to index wholesalers. I thought most of the companies were reputable until I hit the scam, which made me second guess the whole site. I just wanted to know your take on finding wholesalers, maybe how and where to start.

    Thanks.

In response to David’s inquiry, I purchased the 26″ monitor/HDTV from http://www.geeks.com. Geeks is not a “wholesaler” per se, but provides very good pricing on lots of electronic “stuff.” I have found over the years (I’ve purchased from them for about 5-7 years, I forget) their products to be as advertised, no dead on arrival etc. Like most online places that sell “stuff,” it’s sometimes difficult to receive “support.” Their “stuff” comes and goes all the time, so often you have to jump in to get what they have - not like Woot, but when they are out, they are out.
