People in Cali, Colombia, are shocked to see the bond between a large African lion and a woman who saved it from abuse, involving long, affectionate kisses and hugs between the pair. Ana Julia Torres, who runs the Villa Lorena animal shelter in Cali, fed and nursed Jupiter the African lion back to health years ago after it was found abused and emaciated in a traveling circus.
"It is amazing to see an animal like that be so sweet and affectionate," said Torres. "This hug is the most sincere one that I have received in my life." Read the rest of the story here: This doesn’t have that much to do with entrepreneurship, but it makes me think there is hope for the rest of us! Hank

I knew Aslan was real!! I’m going to Narnia.
Everybody needs a hug every know and then? Sometimes the best ideas have nothing to do with making money and just helping other people.
That’s sweet. That would be an amazing bond to have with such a fearsome and majestic creature of nature. The lion is definitely not meant to give hugs or play in circuses for that matter, but this just goes to show that when something wrong happens in life all is not lost: there is still hope! We can make lemonade out of life’s lemons. In fact, a lot of that goes on I’m sure in entrepreneurship.
All that I can predict coming from this is another Siegfred & Roy type incident.
All I have to say is, Hank, I think you were wrong… this clip has everything to do with Entrepreneurship. It’s actually convinced me to start domesticating lions to sell as pets, sounds like a good, solid, low-liability idea to me… what do you think?
Keep in mind four Wall Street types paid a Concierge Company tens of thousands of dollars to be dropped off by helo in the middle of nowhere in Africa armed only with knives. Why - because they could. Build it and they will come. But I don’t like the idea of animals that should be wild being domesticated into pets - lions in particular. Dogs are another matter.
I believe this is the best place for the lion. I don’t believe the lion will attack because she fed him everyday. It’s sad to see animals used in a circus, but it is even worse when they are not fed right.
It’s great to see such a bond between the lion and Torres, and rightfully so because she put so much effort into saving the lion a long time ago. I think this just makes you wonder, what would happen if we all showed that kind of dedication and affection towards others around us. I bet the world would be a much happier place, and a lot more hugs would be getting handed out on Fridays.
I would have to say that this really does go a long way in more than one way. I say this because even though she seeems to have found her best friend in a lion one would also say that she has found the business opportunity of a lifetime!
Well, it is good to see that the lion does not bit the hand that feeds it. I am sure that lion will soon become the poster aminal for Animal rights and wildlife protection.
That’s so cute. I want a lion! Preferably one as cuddly as that one, of course. It’s just so much more exotic than a regular tabby.
Its amazing to see the type of change someone can make..by merely trying- and giving a little effort. i love this story!!
Great story… I didn’t believe it at first until I saw the video… and I had to watch it twice.. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.
This is absolutely crazy. I don’t agree with the idea of domesticating such wild animals, but to actually hug a lion is pretty impressive. This shows to always expect the unexpected, which is a frequent theme in entrepreneurship.
