screws-~-42-15355588Well, not exactly. There is a spell checker, and I assume it works, but it is French. Seems like OE doesn’t have its own spelling dictionary, and uses the one Office provides. Prior to Office 2007, the world was in sync. I installed Office 2007, my wife uses Outlook Express, and wondered why the spelling checker was stopping on just about every word (English don’t you know). By going to OE, Tools, Spelling, it was quickly ascertained that only a French dictionary was available. A Google came up with all kinds of documentation on the cause, and a bunch of work-arounds that didn’t work-around. The most common was to use a previous Office and just install the spelling checker component.

Instead, I found an exe file that installed a US English dictionary directly into OE and the world (meaning my spouse) is back in proper orbit.

The file that I found may be downloaded from here: It is a 595K exe file, self-installing, that completely fixed the problem. This should help other citizens!

Once again, my thanks to the Evil Empire for (<<–) screwing with its customers. I’ve lost count of the number of screws by now. Hank

I don’t quite know how you do it, Hank. I don’t think I would have the patience to sit there and try to find a work-around. Glad you found a solution, though!
