BDM Business Plan Competition Results

UNS Check Pose In yesterday’s Burton D. Morgan Business Plan competition undergrad division, three of the five teams had members who were either current or former students of mine [ENTR200].

John Mullen[who also won the undergrad division of the recent elevator pitch contest - $2,000] along with AJ and two other engineers won the whole enchilada [$20,000 first prize] with their entry EcoDisk.

Daniel Poynter and his team took second with Digital Learning. And third with the red shirt in the center of the three students, is Ryan Wilsey, a current ENTR200 student. Their entry, Unstoppable Learning took third. The guys behind Unstoppable Learning have a web site here where they blog about their “experiences” in bringing life to their idea.

Fifth place  and $1,000 went to current ENTR200 student Jeff Carr and his teammate for Recruit-Cast. Max Showalter has a complete rundown in today’s JCOnline here:

You all made us in the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program @ Purdue proud! [Ryan provided the photo-thanks!] Hank

PS: My apologies to my noon class students who didn’t read Moodle before class yesterday smile_regular

Congrats to all participants, it is a great honor to win something like this. Also it helps out with the costs I know that I could have used something like this to help pay for some of my products expenses.

Congratulations to all who placed, especially those in the ENTR200 course! I got to see one full business plan presentation and part of another - very well-rehearsed. I was impressed by what I saw, and that definitely reflects well upon the certificate program.

As a participant in the competition I thought it was a great learning experience. I wish I could’ve done better than 5th but just placing was a big accomplishment for someone who has never developed a business plan before. It was a lot of work but, and I learned some things from the judges that will help me implement my business.

On behalf of team Unstoppable Learning, I have to say that it was a real honor and privilege to be involved with this awesome competition. Our [magical] hats go off to the other teams, and especially to the EcoDisk group. It was amazing!

I was still shocked (and honored) that you canceled class to be there to see all of us pitch our ideas!

Congrats to all the winners! It is pretty awesome that two people came from the noon class–way to represent! I love seeing all these amazing ideas and how we have such an opportunity here to find people to support and teach us. We are definitely blessed to have such a great program at Purdue. All these ideas and people winning competitions and such makes me wonder what will happen in the future when many of us go our separate ways and then the next “big thing” comes out and it is actually someone we knew from Purdue ENTR so many years ago :)
