Justin, our oldest son, owns and runs an excavating company in the Tacoma, WA area. He recently won a contract to tear down the old city building in Bremerton, WA. He has told us he is getting enough scrap metal and lumber out of the job to pay for most of the out-of-pocket costs involved in hauling away other debris. He also told me yesterday he slid backward off a debris pile and the excavator he was running ended up on its back resting on the counterweight. He was able to upright the Case excavator by lowering the boom, and grabbing on to some stuff with the bucket’s thumb, while looking straight up. Not a position you want to be in!
