Latest on M3: Bent Rear Lower Control Arm
This has nothing to do with entrepreneurship per se, except perhaps having the funds to pay for it. In addition to totally trashing the previous Wordpress/thinkbeta.com blog instance, I took the “new” M3 in for a 4-wheel alignment. As most of you in Central Indiana are more than aware of, we got snow. I couldn’t get out our gravel road to the south – snow had drifted it closed during the night, but I did make it out the north route. I had a couple of reasons for taking the M3 in for alignment; (1) the steering wheel was slightly cocked CCW, and (2) on roads with grooves worn in the payment, it wants to follow the grooves – an indication of toe-out rather than toe-in of the front tires.
Up in the rack it goes, and the alignment guy Jason started on the rear. He had one hell of a time breaking the eccentric camber adjustment bolt loose on the left rear (left of the arrow), and with the camber set all the way negative (top of tire further into the wheel well than the bottom), the camber spec still wasn’t achieved. Upon further inspection, he noticed the control arm was bent. See arrow in picture below. As luck would have it, the local BMW dealer had one on the shelf, along with a new eccentric bolt etc., so repairs are being accomplished and Monday, hopefully, the alignment will be completed and my wallet will be lighter. They had to drop the rear end out and part of the exhaust to make clearance to remove the old control arm. Sometimes life is not simple. I’m just venting. iPhone picture. Hank

I screwed up!!!
My fingers left my hand and I deleted the entire thinkbeta.com/blog directory and I don’t have a backup. I’m starting all over so bear with me.
