The Winner: www.missionmatchup.com
Posted on February 25th, 2009 33 comments
It is with great pride and personal satisfaction that I can report the overall undergraduate winner in yesterday’s Burton D Morgan Business Plan Competition @ Purdue University was “my company” MissionMatchUp.com. Props to Kristeen and Brian for a superb job! The $20,000 they won won’t hurt either.BTW, this is two years in a row that former students of mine have taken home all the marbles. Is there a pattern developing here? I met and had dinner with both Kristeen and Brian’s parents as part of the ceremony. I’m certain they are still smiling. Today’s (2/25/09 p. C6) Journal & Courier’s Max Showalter has an article on the event here: Thanks Max! Race on. Hank

When she came to class to present her ideas I knew she had something going in her favor. When I opened up The Exponent today I was very excited to see that she and her partner won! Hank must be preparing us all for very successful entrepreneurial futures!

I thought they did an awesome job presenting mission match up. Brian did a great job with all of the financial aspects of the company he really seemed to know what was going on. I was also impressed with the fact that the website was actually up and running. I know that the judges were impressed with that as well. I could tell by the looks on their faces when they found out that Kristeen had already raised money for one of her mission trips. I could tell that they were more prepared than the group before them. Some of the little things that you harp on Hank group one was doing. They said, “and now I will pass it on to…” They also had not checked the patents out which I thought was interesting because that really hurt them in the judges eyes. They also said “we feel” or “we believe”. Mission Match Up was more sure of themselves. Great job to Kristeen and Brian!

I missed it yesterday, but mostly due to my crazy sleep schedule. Congratulations to Kristeen and Brian on a job well done. Kristeen did a wonderful job presenting her niche and resolve to the class. I’m sorry I missed it.

Congratulations to you both. Unfortunately I was not able to attend yesterday. Hank, you must be doing something right if your students have won two years in a row. Good luck to you guys in the future.

omg I’m so happy for them! This is so cool. She’s probably going to make the website 10x’s better. This is so cool! I have actually made an account on her website, but I haven’t really been active with it. I feel like I know someone famous! If I had attended the competition I would have defiantly chosen her project too. Congrads Mission Match Up!

Congratulations to them both. It shows that if your idea is good enough, you can be a success. When Kristeen came to class to discuss her business, I thought it was such a great idea. I have been on mission trips before, and I know how much money and effort it takes to raise the money to go. I look forward to seeing how the company progresses in the future. Congrats again.

Hopefully all students are able to recognize that they too could one day be very successful entrepreneurs. The competition provides a little more motivation when contemplating beginning one’s own venture.

Nice work! the students shouldn’t be the only ones to congratulate. Of course its their idea but who encouraged them to go for it and do everything to develop it and make it real is certainly Frank (even more if this is a repetitive situation).
Congratulations to MisionMatchUp.com, hopefully the money will be spent in missions and communities that really need it. -

That’s really exciting that their business idea is taking life so well. Especially with a fairly non-profit audience, it’s really great that business competitions see the drive in Kristeen to make this thing work.

Good job Kristeen. Mom and I had fun throughout the day listening all the presentations…. especially yours. We met some new and interesting people and I even learned a few things! A day I’m sure we’ll both remember for a long time to come.

Kristeen how about a bail-out for your long lost cousin in Texas?? I see you have done really well. This is great and your dad will be delighted that you will be able to repay all your college expensed so soon.
Good job. -
Congrats Kristeen and Brian (& Hank).
