ENTR former student has opportunities
Posted on September 16th, 2009 30 commentsBelow is an email [urashid-at-westmonroepartners.com ]I received last week from a new Purdue grad and former ENTR200 student: Opportunity knocks. Hank
Hey Hank,
I gradated Purdue this spring and started working for a company called West Monroe Partners.
They’re a business and technology consulting firm.. I love it- it’s the best job I’ve ever had…tomorrow for our company meeting we are going to the Chicago Cubs game.. What more can you ask for? [besides going to a Sox game instead]This year to cut costs on recruiting West Monroe Partners will only be attending the computer routable, but we are looking for other majors too (I’m a Krannert alum myself).. We’re looking for people with technical skills (CS, Coding, etc) as well as business related majors.. We’re not searching for a particular major more of a ‘who is the best fit’ and who can learn quickly. I was hoping you could pass that information on to your students?
I’ve included a PDF with all the event details…I want to make sure people know even though we’re attending the computer roundtable we ARE looking for other majors as well. We are recruiting for both full time and internship slots.
With that said, I don’t think an art or philosophy major would be the best fit for the firm, but hey you never know.. The ENTR program was GREAT, I’ve recommended it to all my friends who go to Purdue.
If you have questions or any students you think would be particularly good match please let me know.
Thanks!!
Boiler up!

I will add that to my list of job fairs to attend.

I know the sender of this email personally (old coworker) and he did recommend the ENTR program to me. It’s my hope that WMP likes what they see in him and will continue filling positions with Boilermakers. WMP is definitely at the top of my list for the Computer Roundtable.

I think that its great that a former student wrote back to a professor and asked for students to join the business in which he is a part of.

It is always nice to hear from former students that have gone through what you are going through, and have succeeded with the help of the course. It is even better that he is offering opportunities.

I really like to read about success stories. Especially about people that went to the same school, and took the same class as me.

Maybe it’s an opportunity.

Thank you very much for posting this.I was planning to go to the computer round table anyway but now I feel I have something new to look into. As I am a CS major pursuing a minor in Economics and the Certificate in Entrepreneurship, this sounds like a deal to me.

Everyone born with same opportunities, just depends on how we use them, and when are we going to catch them. Oftentime, people need to help each other out when they are looking for the chance, because once we miss it, then it will never coming back again.

Wow! great opportunity, this company named West Monroe that is about technology consulting. But i am only freshman. I been to the career fair and seen many company presentations. There are many divisions according to the levels they will place in and your job positions avaliable differs. I know there are many Purdue graduates employed at Chicago. I think this is one of them.

I think that it is great that the company is looking for not just a specific major but who the best fit it. Great opportunity!

I know they are looking for sc majors, but I wonder if they want computer graphics? Like say animation or 3d modeling?
