Getting Started on Google Wave
Posted on November 15th, 2009 31 commentsI recently received a Google Wave invite, not certain if it’s from Josh or not, and haven’t really gotten into it yet. Any of you?
Below is a video about it, and here’s a link to an online “book” about it. More “stuff” to learn. Talk to me. Hank

Sounds like a good program that might be worth a try in the future. These types of programs are starting to emerge more commonly now and they definitely make group projects easier.

I’ve been looking extensively at Google Wave; it sounds awesome. How do you go about getting invites though?
-
How did I get invite? Just submitted my name to Google. I’ll request you an invite via my Wave account. Don’t know if that will do any good, but we’ll give it a try.

This seems nice. It makes sense to try to remodel e-mail since it’s been around so long. I would like an invite too.

Haven’t heard about it before this. The video is cool.

Seems interesting. I would have to look into this a little more before I actually sign up or ask for an invite.

This concept is pretty interesting and it’s applications will be very appreciated. My cousin had 20 invites to Google Wave and his status on facebook read- “Does anybody need Google Wave invites? I have 20!”
I didn’t know what he was talking about at that time. Now, I do! I should have got one.. -

I heard of it a couple months ago, my friends in CS said he’s got an invitation of it.
It’s basically the google chat on Gmail done better. I can see why people like it, but I don’t really think it’s going to be a big hit.
However, some of my friends on forums are very excited to try it out.

Sounds much better than current email: faster, easier, more productive and efficient.
-
It is actually a great technology and from a developer’s point of view there is a lot more into it that can be used to build other websites using APIs and stuff.
I have been using this since past few weeks and its amazing except that not many people are on it yet.
-
Hank, it worked: I have an account now.

I think that kind of technology can help save more time. I may get an account too.

Sounds much more efficent than current e-mail but how long do they store them and what is the upload time on documents?

Hmm, this looks like something that can be a pretty cool alternative to current email accounts. I may have to get an account.

I currently have gmail but due to the consistent problems I was experiencing, I had to move over to Purdue’s Webmail. Maybe I will try Google Wave.

Well this seems somewhat complicated at first, but if I understand enough, it seems fairly beneficial. I love the video.

I think google wave is a great idea but I feel as if it has already been done. It reminds me of a facebook thread. It doesn’t seem too new to me!

This is exciting to see that you can see all of this form of emailing that is more like instant messaging. I can definitely see how this new form of technology would be helpful in large or even small companies in saving time when dealing with larger projects throughout the ideation process.

Hank, can’t you just use your special google inside contact and hook everyone up with an Wave invitation
? -

Sounds very interesting…more organized, less confusion, and less time for getting the features you want. Very convinient. I agree, if someone could get an invite out to everyone that would be great

This is a great idea. I totally relate to the “monster” of an email described in the video. This kind of thing always happened when I was on a project team at my internship. We had members from Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing, etc. all replying to and forwarding the same email back and forth, so everyone involved ended up at different levels of notification of what was going on, and everything always needed to be clarified and re-clarified as a result. Invite please!
