as far as the negatives of the ipad, its pretty funny because before i read this my boyfriend and his dad where making feminine hygeine jokes about it. they too also think it is just a larger, more expensive iphone.

in regards to the guest speakers, they were amazing!! i told my boyfriend about the app development since he wants a new make, and is in CGT so he already took some coding classes. he, however, did not seemed as pumped about it as i was. I now want to go out and by a mac so i can make some new app developements. I think i'd need to take a coding class first though.

I think Tim has a great idea. But I'm not sure the iPad is going to make a big hit like the iPod touch or iPhone because it's almost the same just a little bigger. So make programs for the iPad but still support the iPhone.

I never thought app development could be as easy as Tim described. As soon as I upgrade my OS I'll have to take a look at designing an app of my own!

I think that Tim's ideas were amazing. He has actually inspired me to download STK to my Mac and try building apps. I think is a very great idea because first of all its free to build an app, it allows you to be creative, and if Apple accepts your app then you have a chance to make some money off something you just built from scratch and watch people from all over the world download the app to their own personal iPhones. I really hope to develop something that is truly one of a kind that many students will be able to use and also people in the Lafayette area. I will try my best to keep the class updated and what is going on and possibly give the class my idea and try to get some feedback on what you guys think about it.

The new iPad brings up new and interesting opportunities for developers of applications. If I had the time I would definitely be interested in researching and developing apps for the new iPad

One thing that I wondered that the iPad would do is function as a drawing pad for graphic applications such as Photoshop. Maybe someone could make an app for that as well as a pen for more precise movement.

As a senior in computer technology (CIT) here at Purdue, I've had direct experience developing applications for mobile phones. I've developed apps for two platforms: Windows Mobile and Google's Android. I've also seen and read a lot about Iphone development, and it seems one of the single biggest reasons the Iphone app store is currently light years ahead of Microsoft's and Google's marketplaces is the standard hardware.

Until now with the Ipad, every single Iphone offers the exact same hardware specification: screen size, features, etc. This makes it very easy for a developer who doesn't have to concentrate on coding for several different devices on the same platform.

My question then is: How will the Ipad shake this up? Now apple developers will have to write extra code to take advantage of the Ipad's features. How different is the new SDK for these features than the standard Iphone SDK?

Apple has made new markets with the ideas and products they come up with. the iPad is just another surprise.
The app wars between companies is only producing more and more entrepreneurs as well. Now if only I could get going and make my own app!!

Hank I appreciate the comment, I look forward to Tim's presentation, maybe I'll be able to produce the next big app. Unless the Ipad drastically expands its capabilities, it's going to go down in history as a major apple whoops. One of the principles of successful entrepreneurship is to offer a good or service that hasn’t been seen before, is of a higher quality, or at a lower cost. The Ipad doesn’t do any of these. And guess what? I have seen the Ipad before! I can see it anytime I want when I put my Iphone under a magnifying glass. Is Steve Jobs just getting bored or did some chick from Barnes & Noble piss him off? I really don’t get the appeal of the Ipad besides the fact that it looks different, and frankly (maybe I’m just immature) but the name makes me uncomfortable.

Oh I think I was supposed to comment on how the big doofy looking screen on the Ipad can be useful, but sorry guys, I'm going to leave that marketing miracle to Apple.

Though the iPad at its forecasted price point when you add on the monthly service charges is a niche product, it could find a nice home in the business world to take when traveling. This could be a very profitable platform for app developers. I'm looking forward to the presentations tomorrow.
