Here Come the Super Bowl Ads
Posted on February 7th, 2010 29 commentsToday is Super Sunday, the day many people turn on their TVs not to watch the football game, but the commercials. Here is a link to information on some of the entertainment you will view this evening. GoDaddy is famous for pushing the envelope. Embedded below is their 2010 banned ad. Hank

I am so excited for the game tonight! I am torn between the two teams because they are my two favorites; I still am not sure who I want to win. The commercials are always entertaining and something to look forward to. The beer advertisements are always my favorite. It will be interesting to see what new ideas they come up with.

I love the commercials during the superbowl! I think it’s insane how much money is spent to advertise during the game. I also agree that the beer commercials are usually the best. I’m also looking forward to the halftime show with The Who. Hopefully it’ll be a good game!

theres bound to be some good ads this year. last year there were a few funny ads but i think most of the really funny ones came years ago. I think the funniest ads came when the rams played the patriots a few years ago. Then again half the the people watching he super bowl this year only watch it for the commercials

I would deffently have to agree with everyone and deffently what Josh is saying. Hopefully this year the commercials will be better and the game will be a great one too!!

I saw some of the commercials. It is great.
Since I came to America in last spring, I know the Super Bowl is one of most important game in America. However, I will prefer to watch these commercials instead of the game. -

The commercials make watching the super bowl more exciting. They are some of the best commercials of the year. Go Drew Brees!

Ya the ads are always out of the world. I really want to see the doritos ads. They are generally amazing.

I used to only watch for the commercials until I started liking the game. So far (writing this at half time) the commercials have sucked. Only good commercial have been GoDaddy and Doritos. Coors Lite commercials have been bad. Where are the other beer commercials???

Just watched the game!! Go Saints!!!!!! Although I dont watch a lot of TV, some of the commercials were really good. Its really expensive to air during the super bowl but yet again many were entertaining and will see money back ten fold for the companies that invested.

There were some pretty funny commercials tonight during the game. I think my favorite was the Doritos commercial.

I am not to say I was dissapointed this year, but I was dissapointed in the bud light commercials, there funny, but I thought all of the Doritos commercials were so much more funny. The denny’s ones also gave me a chuckle!

Being a Chicago man myself, the Super Bowl Shuffle, in my opinion was…..”so fresh!” Love it when advertising focuses on the products!

What????? do people not comment on what is posted? I do not feel like this was really pushing the envelope. I mean we did have Janet show a little skin at the half time show a few years back.

CBS needs to keep the superbowls advertising open as a relatively free speech function. Just because a few groups are offended(which there always will be) we should not ban commercials. let these controversial commercials inspire controversy and speech and in turn if needed reform on the subject at hand.

Why was this commercial banned from the super bowl lineup? Its unique and clever, unlike many that were shown this year.

I love watching the superbowl simply for the ads. This years ads weren’t as strong as I remember them being in the past. I think the Etrade baby ads are always genius though. The
Doritos commercials are also very entertaining and I love the fact that they let others create their commercials. The GoDaddy ads almost test the waters too much to a point that almost seems cheesy. -

After watching the superbowl on sunday i was not impressed with the commercials. I didn’t think they were as funny or clever as they have been in the past. Superbowl is like one of the only days of TV that people don’t use their DVR players to fast forward through commercials.

I am not a football fan, and unless there is good food and cold beers, I cannot sit through an entire game. I watch the Super Bowl to be a part of the action and am curious to see if this year the commercials live up to hype. However, it has been years since I have seen a truly good commercial during the Super Bowl. The problem is that when making a super bowl commercial you have the broadest audience possible, which translates into slapstick comedy and little creativity. I don’t know why marketing teams think they have to be funny to attract consumers. Commercials that work for me are ones that make the viewer truly identify with the brand. I’m talking about the kind of commercials that come on and everyone in the room stops talking and just watches.
This one aired in 1984 during the Super Bowl by the advertising geniuses at Apple, it first introduced the world to the Macintosh Computer. It’s known as one of the best commercials of all time, and is my personal favorite:

I saw this one in Italy when Fiat was launching the 500 (best marketing campaign EVER (apart from Obama’s ‘08 campaign)) and fell in love. It’s SUPER CHEESY even for Italians. I’ve shown it in a couple marketing classes. The English subtitles aren’t perfect, and sure it’s over the top, but I still think it’s brilliant:

Doritos definitely took first prize for this year’s winning superbowl commercial. Two rules, keep your hands off my mama, and keep your hands off my Doritos.

Doritos commercials were definitely good, but my favorite are always the Etrade commercials with the babies. They always keep up with what is funny and what isn’t.

I think the Superbowl commercials are very creative and funny. It’s not only fun to watch the game but also watch the commercials. I look forward to commercial time. They had really good beer and Doritos commercials this year.

I’m not really sure why that was banned from the being aired. Super bowl commercials seemed to get as much attention as the game itself these days. I’ve been craving Doritos and Bud Light all day.

I felt the GoDaddy commercial was a little bit too much. The game was very exciting, but I felt the most dominant companys that were all over the television during commercials had to be Bud Light, Budweiser and Dorittos. I felt these companys spent a lot of money with their advertising during the Superbowl. The commercials were well marketed and I can only hope for them that they bring success.

Yes many people do tune in to the SuperBowl to see the commercials, but if you ask me, I would have to say for the past few years the commercials have been weak. This year was a major improvement from the past two years. The Betty White commercial was good although I forgot what the product was and the Favre commercial was quite funny. The Google commercial was a nice touch as well. However, there were no classic commercials like the Budweiser with the frogs or “Waassssup” guys. It seems like creativity has been lacking and hopefully this is changing and soon!!

I am a HUGE superbowl fan! I love the game, the atmosphere, and the commericials. How can you not like broadcasted event where even the commercials keep you watching? I am surprised that godaddy.com commercial was banned. they seem to push the envelope a lot and i didnt think that was any worse than what they typically air.
As far as this years commercials, they were good, but maybe they can step it up next year? some better half time’s would be appreciated as well. Too bad MtV got fired..

Superbowl Commercials are great, but people have to realize kids are watching the superbowl with their parents! Even though Sex sells they shouldnt allow these commercials to be on tv during the superbowl. I would hate to have to be on the committee that desides what does and doesn’t make the cut.
