  • Who’s Bob Rohrman

Posted on March 6th, 2010 admin 31 comments

Bob Rohrman is one of the area’s largest car dealers in the midst of an epic downturn for the auto industry. He just sued a plastic surgeon for allegedly wooing away his third ex-wife. But, hey, for this irrepressible TV pitchman, the tank is always half full.

Since Toyota has been very much in the news, background on the infamous Bob Rohrman who owns several such dealerships in this area is appropriate. Here’s a link with such information. See the video below for some bloopers. Thanks to my BIL Jerry for this link. Hank

“After I decided it was too easy to make money, I didn’t worry anymore.”

I suppose it can’t be too hard to make money if so many people are willing to buy cars from a guy with all of those cheesy commercials. I didn’t realize how widespread his car dealerships were. That just goes to show us that doing something you love and having fun while doing it are two key ingredients for a successful entrepreneur.

This guy is great everybody who watches TV has seen his commercials. He shows a lot of energy which I think helps him sell his cars. When you have money I guess you can sue anybody for anything.

Mr. Rohrman has done an incredible marketing job. He has become a household name in this area. However, he needs to work on his PR. I don’t see how he still sells cars when it is publicly known what an asshole he is.

wow that is a super creepy picture. He has done a great job of getting his name out to the public, as annoying as it may be we all know Bob Rooooooohhhhrrrrman

Haha, classic cheesy used car commercials, such an interesting marketing technique, guess it works pretty well. What i take out of this though is that the most successful businesses using end up being lead by the people having the most fun with their jobs.

I guess there are two sides to marketing, the side that shows off a great product, and the side that will do anything possible for you to know their name.

Mr. Rohrman makes his job look easy simply because his marketing strategies are perfected. Great entrepreneur.

He looks super creepy in the picture. No wonder people come and buy his cars. They wanna see if he really looks like that in real life. And he sued a plastic surgeon for allegedly wooing away his third ex-wife??? Wow.

I absolutely hate his commercials. But he’s got so many he’s practically impossible to ignore, which I guess is the desired affect.

I have a pretty funny Bob Rohrman moment.

I was working in the Tippecanoe Mall when one of my employees spotted him and his wife (at the time) strolling down the hall. It must have been towards Thanksgiving because I remember he was wearing a red shirt. She begged me if she could, I tried to tell her no, but the humor got the best of us. She belted out the loudest rendition of his name I ever heard. I think the entire mall heard it as well, because all the stores around us had people at their doors looking for the source of the noticeable name. She then proceeded with a Ho, Ho, Ho for the Holidays, from Bob Rohrman. Classic! He turned a half smile and quickly made his exit.

So, as a response to this post, he is quite the opportunistic entrepreneur. Always negotiating was a lesson I took away from all of this. Seems you can get a deal on almost anything is you ask.

    11. Bob Rhorman sold me my Honda Fit! His receptionists at Honda are horrible though. Those ladies are so rude!

    12. Bob Rohrman is extremely creepy from his shower skits to his santa impersonations. Seeing all those bloopers definitely increased my fear in him. He has an interesting commercial series featuring himself but Personally I would not want to see him and more so rather just hear voice overs from him or Morgan Freeman.

    13. I’m always confounded by entrepreneurs that seem to suck at choosing an appropriate spouse in their personal life but make all the right decisions in their business life.

Sometimes too much of someone or something can be a bad thing. I say that because I have become so annoyed with Rohrman’s commercials that I actually turn the channel away every time I see one. I enjoy watching tv back home where his commercials dont air. As much as I dont enjoy his marketing its hard to argue against the effectiveness of his commercials.

I’m actually looking to buy a car right now and i went to a few bob rohrman dealerships. Im not sure if his marketing techniques are what get him business, but a few reasons do come to mind. the cheesy commericials do make an impression (even if people hate it) reminds me of a quote i once saw

“love me or hate me, either way im always on your mind”

bob’s marketing strategies work this way. even if people think they are cheesy or tacky, it gets his name out there, and in their minds, for when they want to buy a car.

His commercials remind me of the Eagle Auto Insurance Co. that was based in the Illinois area. Their commercials were just as cheesy, but also people remembered them because of their catchy phrases. Good way to market them, but I wouldn’t buy a car from Rohrman or insurance from Eagle because to me it just doesn’t seem legit. I do have to say I love the commercials though.

    17. Soroosh Karamyar

He is doing something right but I really hate his commercial.

But that is the amazing fact of madness. Just recognizing his commercial and knowing who he is means his commercials are a success and that is why he is successful.

    18. Stephanie Mellady

I know a lot of people that will absolutely refuse to buy a car from him just because of his obnoxious commercials, but I think it is a very successful marketing technique. I wouldn’t personally use it for my own business, but in certian industires like used cars and matresses it is very successful.

    19. I love his commercials, they are a kind of epic fail joke that we have in our household. I haven’t ever done business with his dealerships, but I would look at them first next time i’m in the market.

    20. I do not watch TV a lot since I have been aboard. Therefore I do not know him and his commercial. It seems he is quite popular on TV. I like his enthusism for his career. It is lucky for people who can find their interests and make these interests to be their career.

    21. His ads are catchy so i guess he is accomplishing his goal even though they are pretty overbearing.

    22. I think Bob has just put his name out there soo much that people will think to buy a car from him. Whether or not you like the style of his commercials doesn’t matter because they have already achieved they’re purpose… gotten in your head in a memorable way.

    23. I must say that even though I do not like his commercials, the job still gets done by getting that name in my head. It is amazing that even in an economic downturn, he is still able to do pretty well in the business. I also thought that it was funny in the article that one mentioned, “I’ve seen him cold at football games, but have never seen him sweat.” I have heard of car dealers that have gone on the verge of insanity because of the car crisis. But I guess Bob Rooooooohrman won’t!

    24. Most annoying commercials on television, how does he sell so many cars?

    25. Curtis Brackett

Bob Rohrman is an advertising expert. Though his TV commercials are probably some of the most obnoxious and cheesy out there they accomplish their goal without a doubt. Everyone knows who Bob Rohhhhrman is and everyone knows where to find one of his dealerships. Being one of the first car dealerships to pop into your head undoubtedly contributes to the mass amount of vehicles he sells yearly.

    26. Letteer Lewis

I have been watching this guys ads on tv for as long as I can remember, I don’t care how successful he is, his ads are still creepy haha.

    27. Casey Piquette

He pretty much owns the car industry in Lafayette. He sells tons of brands of cars and also even sells used cars. His advertisements are all over the place, and he sure does a good job of getting his name known. I think it is crazy how he has a new commercial almost every month. He may be successful, but his ads are really creepy. I don’t know that I would trust him! Especially because he sells so many brands of cars. I feel like with cars, a dealer specializes in a brand because they are loyal and trust in it. I wonder what he actually drives?

    28. Bob annoys me every single time I turn on a local television station. He’s apparently very good at selling vehicles, and I certainly remember his name and location, but I genuinely do not have any interest in meeting this fellow.

    29. Frank Hettlinger

Thankfully when I graduate I won’t ever have to see another one of his commercials. I hope if I ever start a business that no one hates my commercials as much as every one of my friends hates his.

    30. his commercials are obnoxious but memorable and i suppose memorable is the main point.

    31. Maria Del Real

Well, I must say. It was interesting learning more about Bob Rohrman. I had no idea that he has so many dealerships. It takes great skill and charismatic ability to stay in the business nowadays. Although he may get a lot of bad rep from his competitors, he still is coming out on top!
