See video below of how they build their own raft out of themselves when threatened by floods for instance. More recently, researchers at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, in partnership with Pacific  Northwest National Laboratory (PPNL), have applied ant swarming tendencies to a new breed of anti-virus software for computers.
