We’re Up and Running Once Again
After a respite, I decided there is so much going on in both the entrepreneurial world and technology arena that I just “had” to put my oar in the water once again. I’m going to invite others, as before (Beth?) to write a blog entry from their perspective on a somewhat regular basis. I’m also going to attempt to keep my EBV crew up-to-date. Let the good times roll.
Recently I assigned as part of their Mid Term exam a requirement that students embed an original GoAnimate video into the Wix pages they are constructing to house their Global Marketing Management project. To do this requires the expenditure of $money$ which students resist, almost as much as homework
I found Screencast-O-Matic, a free online portal that supports the capture of parts of or all of a screen, and further, the resultant video may be uploaded directly to YouTube. Pretty nifty. Check it out. Hank -
Digital Ants
Ants are great insects with many traits that may be engineered into hardware and software for us humans. See video below of how they build their own raft out of themselves when threatened by floods for instance. More recently, researchers at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, in partnership with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PPNL), have applied ant swarming tendencies to a new breed of anti-virus software for computers. You can read a short article about this novel approach here from which the graphic at left was obtained. And in preparation for Hal Kirkwood from MEL being in MJIS1001 next T/Th [NOT the Learning Lab in Krannert as was previously announced, but regular classroom] you should take a look at the SpicyNode he’s working on here: Hank

TED-Ideas Worth Spreading: Bill Gates CO2=PSEC
Bill Gates recently spoke at TED about how the world needs to attack reduction in CO2. As the tagline from TED suggests, his ideas are worth spreading. His 27+ minute presentation is embedded below. For my ENTR200 students, you might note he slipped in several “you knows.” Even the richest “guy” on planet earth is not perfect
